Speed Up Your Joomla 1.5 Site

If you have caching disabled, turning it on can increase your site's performance by keeping a copy of its content on the server and accessing this rather than querying the database. By default, caching is turned off. Here's how to enable it.

In the Administration section select Site > Control Panel then click on Global Configuaration. From here you need to select System and on the right of the screen there will be a box called Cache Settings. Tick the "Yes" box, click save and you're done. Page load times should now be noticably quicker.

If you find that you have made a change to your site in the Joomla back end, but it is not appearing in the front end, you may need to clean the cache. This is done in Joomla 1.5 by selecting Tools > Clean Cache from the administration area.
